§ 6.4. Appropriations and taxation.

  • Common Council shall adopt the budget no later than the last working day of the current fiscal year in accordance with State Law. Concurrent with the formal adoption of the budget, the Common Council shall adopt an annual appropriation ordinance for municipal purposes which shall be based on the budget as approved by the Common Council. Said ordinance shall provide for a levy of the amount necessary to be raised by taxes as allowed by State Law. Said ordinance shall provide for an annual levying and collecting of taxes in a sum, except as otherwise provided by law, not to exceed two (2) percent of the assessed value of the real and personal property in the City, subject to the Municipal Finance Act.
