§ 14.7. Judicial notice.

  • Whenever it shall be necessary to prove any of the laws, regulations or ordinances of the City of Utica or any resolution adopted by the Common Council of the City of Utica the same may read in all courts of justice and in all proceedings; first, from a record thereof kept by the City Clerk; second, from a copy of the ordinance, regulation or resolution or the record thereof certified by the City Clerk under the corporate seal of the City of Utica; third, from a volume of ordinances, regulations or resolutions purporting to have been written or printed by the authority of the Common Council.

The provisions of Charter § 14.7 are superseded by MCL 117.3(k) in that such statute allows a city to adopt an ordinance punishable by imprisonment for not more than 93 days or a fine of not more than $500.00, or both, if the violation substantially corresponds to a violation of state law that is a misdemeanor for which the maximum period of imprisonment is 93 days.
