§ 78-55. Failure to comply with notice; filing of citation district court.

In the event any person fails to comply with the notice of the parking violations bureau as provided in this division, the police department shall forthwith file a parking citation with the district court with a copy of this citation being served by first class mail upon this registered owner of the vehicle at the owners last known address as provided by MCL 257.742. The citation filed with the court is a civil infraction and shall consist of a sworn complaint containing the allegations stated in the parking violation notice and shall fairly inform the defendant how to respond to the citation. The citation need not comply in all particulars with sections 727c and 743 of the Michigan Vehicle Code (MCL 257.727c and 257.743). The citation shall be processed in the same manner as a civil infraction issued in accordance with the Michigan Vehicle Code (MCL 257.742).
